The Black Creek is a major tributary of the Humber River that flows southward through the cities of Vaughan and Toronto. The Black Creek watershed has a topographically defined drainage area of ~63 km2 that is densely populated and crossed by three major highways. The Creek has degraded water quality and there are neighborhoods that experience serious flooding. In 2021, the Black Creek was established as a research and training watershed with goals of better understanding urban streamflow generation and contaminant transport.
